Greater Black-lettered Dart

I'm not sure what letter or letters we're supposed to be seeing, but there's definitely a black something or other on its back.  

These are on the wing in my yard from June to September.  The caterpillars, called Spotted Cutworms, feed on a wide variety of low plants and deciduous trees.
