The Wedgling
Galgula partita
October 15, 2010

These little noctuids are fairly
common in my area.  According
to Covell's guide, the caterpillars feed on wood sorrels, a common plant in my yard.

This one's a male, as evidenced
by the lighter tan color.

Great name for this moth, by
the way.  They're too small to be "wedges" but just the right size and shape to be a little wedge, or "wedgling".
