Chickweed Geometer

Carol Lemmon (CBA president) and I were leading our annual Slug Caterpillar Moth Caterpillar hunt for the CT Butterfly Association this morning.  We didn't turn up a single limacodid - it's getting harder and harder to find them each year.  But we did find this nice
notodontid larva.

...And we found this Chickweed Geometer on the right.

At first I thought it was some kind of Schinia - reminded of a Primrose Moth, but nope.  It's an inchworm.  And supposedly common.  I'll be keeping more of an eye out for them now - they're a refreshing eyeful on a hot summer day..
