Spiny Oak-slug Moth
Euclea delphinii
June 27, 2002

This is the first of the limacodids,
or Slug Caterpillar Moths, to appear
on this site.  The larvae in this group
are unique in that they are legless.
Many have stinging spines, but are
among the most beautiful lepidopteran
creatures out there!  The Connecticut Butterfly Association has a yearly "leaf flippin' " walk in the late summer just to seek them out.  (Contact me for info)
