This is the second saturniid (Silk Moth) to show up at the light this season.  It's a Rosy Maple Moth (Dryocampa rubicunda).  This moth has always been special to me.  Fifteen years ago, I found one on my screen door.  It had sparked my curiosty enough to send me to the library to look it up, rekindling a childhood interest in the moths that has since made for a very fulfilling pastime.

My daughter Liz says they look like sherbert and they have since been called
"Rosy Sherbert Moths"
in these parts.

These moths don't feed as adults.
