Nessus Sphinx

(Amphion floridensis)

I saw this through my studio window and tore ass outside to get a picture.   I managed to snap off this shot before it moved on.

This is a day flying sphingid that benefits from its similar appearance to a large stinging hymenoptera, or perhaps, a small hummingbird.
