Red-washed Prominent
Oligocentria semirufescens
July 6, 2003
This is a twig mimic, as many of
the
notodontidae
are. They rest,
with wings rolled, during the day on
branches. The caterpillars are bizarre
looking creatures that look like chewed
leaf edges.
Here's a better look at the "red wash"
on a moth that showed up 7/2/14.
