The Asteroid

Cucullia asteroides

Great name for a moth - Asteroid!  And fitting, too.  Even when  sitting still it looks like it's rocketing through the air.

The pattern and color, however, actually serve to make it look like a piece of tree bark.  An aerodynamically streamlined piece of bark, but I suppose that's just to the human eye (mine at least).
