Sharp-stigma Looper Moth
Agrapha oxygramma
September 22, 2003
This moth was caught between my studio windows. It was one I'd never seen before so I was very interested in getting it out of there. Actually, I identified it while it was still in the window using Covell's guide.
A. oxygramma is found all over the place - Cuba, Puerto Rico, Belize, Panama, thoughout the southern states, where it is common, and all the way up to Canada. According to Covell, the northern individuals are strays.
Wonder if it caught a ride with Hurricane Isabel?
