Haploa Moth larva
Haploa (most likely clymene)
October 30, 2002

These are crawling around in my yard.  The caterpillar's only about an half inch long.  I wasn't sure what kind of arctiid they were, but David Wagner (Author of Caterpillars of Eastern Forests) emailed me that it's Haploa.  Since the only Haploa I have ever seen in my area is clymene, which were very common this year, I'm pretty sure this is what's pictured.  I intend to rear it out to be one hundred percent sure.

On August 1, 2002 I added Haploa Clymene to this site - click here to see it.
